Rabobank Foundation sees opportunities for more co-financing in Ethiopia

In February Rabobank Foundation's Albert Boogaard and program officer Mariel Mensink visited Terrafina Microfinance projects together. Rabobank Foundation was an enthusiastic participant researching the possibilities for co-financing rural saccos and coffee cooperatives.

"I am impressed by the professionalism of the people we talked to and by the reported repayment percentages in the sector. We will examine the possibilities to expand the cooperation within Terrafina Microfinance by - among other things - guarantees from Rabobank Foundation for MFIs that lend money to agrarian associations. In spite of government restrictions regarding investments and loans, Ethiopia is a country with much potential."
