Financial services for farmers

In April Terrafina Microfinance was partner in a dialogue with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Department of Economic Development on the interface of microfinance and rural development. The meeting is part of the discussions around the joint policy paper on "Agriculture, rural entrepreneurship and food security", launched in 2008 by the Dutch Ministers of Agriculture and Development Coop., and linked to track 2 proposed in the paper ("Enabling environment, public services and institutions"). Terrafina Microfinance was represented by Mariel Mensink and Cor Wattel who acted as resource persons about Financial Services for Farmers. The discussion focused on Emerging Farmers in Developing Countries, their needs for financial services, and the experience with different models to address these needs. Contact Mariel Mensink.
